I need to say that having a news letter is a PAIN without help, you will need staff and all. Time is important unless your up for work you need to join a created newsletter.
The Guide::
You need to be covering a SPECIFIC part of the website, not all of it, not half. Examples; The Tears News letter.
I think interesting titles bring more people to the site. But they need to have the topic your covering in the name, or that people know by the title what your covering.
Running a newsletter on your own can be stressful and take a lot of time. Getting others to help you out is a great idea and can help immensely. There are only two staff positions that are a necessity for any newsletter. The first one is Reporter. These staff go out and find the stories and write about them. The second one is Editor. These staff look at the stories the reporters write and correct spelling errors, grammar, etc. If you'd like to use more staff positions your are welcome to do that with our own newsletter, but be careful not to get too spread out.
The format is how your newsletter looks when it goes out. You may want to put a nice banner at the top and then continue to the stories. It's up to you how you want to make it look. If you want a banner I suggest requesting one from a graphics shop.
Stories for your newsletter can be on many different things. It could be a war, battle, new cubs, plots that are taking place, etc. The possibilities are endless. If you are stuck on ideas try poking around a few threads in that clan/tribe and see what you can find. However, be careful with plots. A newsletter coving a plot should focus on the IC action not the plot itself. It's not to advertise the plot we have the plots board for that kind of stuff.
In general for stories make sure you cover all the details the reader will want to know. Who is this story about? Where did it happen? When did it happen? What happened? How and why did this happen?
Make your articles interesting but don't make stories up. If you do make stories up your newsletter will lose credibility and just be a fanfic rather than a newsletter. Report on your topic and tell people what is going on.
Whats a good newsletter if no one reads it right? Well to do this you have to let people know about your newsletter. The best way to do this is put an advertisement in your signature. This should link to your subscriber thread or a thread about your newsletter.
Contests are a fun way to get your readers involved. The contests can be about anything really. It can be on your chosen topic for your newsletter or anything else. It helps if the contest is one that a lot of people of different skills can enter. The more people that can participate the more fun it is.
If you want your newsletter to be successful you need to become official and to become official you must have 3 months of activity and 3 issues out.
